Our Mission
The Pound Ridge Library Foundation provides financial support to the Pound Ridge Library to preserve and maintain our library, promote life-long learning and foster community-building for all generations.
Some of the Foundation’s contributions have included:
- Children’s room refresh
- Acoustic panel installation in the Schaffner room for improved auditory experience
- Schaffner Room refresh, including an upgraded audio visual equipment
- Interior and exterior building repairs
- Upgraded technology and furniture
- Volunteer-run workshops and programs
- Downloadable ebooks and audiobooks
Recent Projects
Our Library sponsors or hosts a wide variety of cultural and informative programs and services and is a center for community organizations that use the facilities for their activities. Making needed improvements helps the Library increase its offerings for residents and provide spaces for community gatherings.
Children’s Room Refresh
The Pound Ridge Library Foundation was delighted to support the refreshed Children’s Room designed to spark imagination, curiosity and comfort for our youngest readers. Inspired by the natural beauty of Pound Ridge, the woodland-themed decor brings the outdoors in with soft, nature-inspired colors, whimsical forest details, and cozy reading nooks that invite children to linger a little longer.
From storytime to after-school browsing, the updated space creates a welcoming environment where families can gather, explore, and fall in love with reading. This thoughtful refresh reflects our commitment to nurturing a lifelong love of books and to making the Library a magical place for every child who walks through our doors.
Schaffner Room Updates
In 2022, the Foundation approved the Library’s grant request to update the Schaffner Room, a community space used for meetings, exhibits, programs, films, concerts and lectures. Improvements included an upgraded audio visual system, a wall art track system, lighting, acoustic panels, window coverings, and new carpeting. The Schaffner Room refresh project began in August 2022 and was completed in October 2022, resulting in making it more comfortable and functional for Pound Ridge residents.
Future Plans
The Foundation will continue to improve the Library and its offerings and resources by helping to:
- Promote literacy and reading
- Enhance programming
